Nkana Football Club’s FIFA player registration ban has been lifted, clearing the record 13-time Zambian champions to sign and register new players in the current transfer window after months of restrictions stemming from unresolved contractual disputes.
The ban had been imposed following disputes involving Cameroonian defender Dimitri Njalla, Congolese midfielder Mousa Lemisa and striker David Kabala, and had contributed to a difficult season for the Kitwe-based club, which finished 13th in the MTN Super League table, some 39 points behind champions Power Dynamos.
Nkana moved quickly once the restriction was lifted, announcing the signing of winger Jackson Kampamba from Kabwe Warriors on a two-and-a-half-year deal, followed by a triple swoop from National League side Atletico Lusaka bringing in defender Simon Chipanama and midfielders Francis “Bubu” Mutalange and Abel Kanyamuna, the latter arriving with prior European experience in Portugal and Italy. The club also confirmed the departure of five players, including Congolese striker Idris Mbombo, as part of a broader squad overhaul.
Nkana’s Midlands Supporters Bureau described the lifting of the ban as an important milestone in the club’s rebuilding process, crediting the leadership of club president Justin Bwalya and chief executive Mwansa Kapyanga for resolving the underlying issues ahead of the 2026/27 season.
