President Hakainde Hichilema has thanked thousands of students from public and private higher learning institutions who visited State House, using the occasion to highlight his government’s education policies and urge students to vote on August 13.
Framing Education as a National Priority
President Hichilema extended thanks to students who gathered at State House, describing the presidential office as belonging to all Zambians and reaffirming his administration’s commitment to development. He pointed to the free education policy signed into law during his tenure as evidence of government’s belief that education is, in his words, the country’s best equaliser, and said government intends to extend educational support to further institutions, including private ones.
He also cited the reinstatement of meal allowances and other student amenities as part of a broader strategy of investing in the education sector as a driver of national development.
A Direct Appeal Ahead of Polling Day
Hichilema closed his remarks with a direct appeal to students and the wider public to vote for him and the UPND in Thursday’s general election, framing continued delivery on these commitments as contingent on the outcome of the vote. He thanked students again for visiting State House and expressed continued commitment to supporting them.
