Leicester City has confirmed the departure of Zambian international striker Patson Daka following the club’s relegation to EFL League One, ending a five-year stint in English football that began with significant fanfare in 2021.
Daka joined Leicester from Red Bull Salzburg in a reported £23 million deal after a prolific spell in Austria, where he scored 54 goals in 82 appearances and won four Bundesliga titles. His time at the King Power Stadium proved far more difficult, with limited goal returns and a lengthy scoring drought between December 2024 and November 2025 contributing to inconsistent form across his tenure.
He was among ten senior players released by Leicester as part of a wider squad overhaul following the club’s second relegation in recent seasons, alongside teammates Jordan Ayew and Ricardo Pereira. Daka managed six goals in his final campaign, though he showed some late improvement under new management, including a standout brace against Preston.
The striker remains a key figure for the Zambian national team and is expected to assess offers from clubs across Europe as he looks to rebuild momentum in his career following the release.
