The Zambia Police Service has confirmed that seven suspects have been apprehended in connection with the murder of Chaminuka Resort CEO Stelios Sardinis, 64, and an aggravated robbery at the lodge on August 9.
Seven Suspects in Custody
Police say the incident occurred between 01:00 and 01:15 hours on August 9 at Chaminuka Lodge in Chisamba District. All seven suspects, apprehended in connection with the murder and aggravated robbery, are residents of Lusaka. Four were apprehended earlier in the investigation, while the remaining three were apprehended on August 11 in Lusaka. All seven remain in police custody as investigations continue to establish the full circumstances of the incident and the role each suspect played.
Police Caution Against Political Speculation
Zambia Police Service Public Relations Officer Godfrey Chilabi cautioned the public against attributing political motives to the case without verified information, stressing that this is a serious criminal investigation involving loss of life that must be allowed to proceed professionally. He urged members of the public to refrain from spreading rumours or unverified information, particularly on social media, warning this could affect the investigation and cause further distress to the victim’s family. Police said further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
