Former Chipolopolo and Nkana striker Evans Kangwa has officially retired from professional football, marking the end of his playing career with a testimonial match at Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka on Sunday, June 7.
The farewell fixture drew a host of Zambian football legends including Christopher Katongo, James Chamanga, Joseph Musonda, Emmanuel Mbola, Chisamba Lungu and Ronald Kampamba, who joined Kangwa on the pitch for what became an emotional send-off for the fans in attendance.
Reflecting on his career after the match, Kangwa thanked his teammates, family and supporters, singling out his wife for her support through a journey that took him from Zambian club football to a spell in Saudi Arabia. He urged the football fraternity to continue the tradition of honouring players with testimonial matches, and spoke about his ongoing work supporting grassroots talent development in local communities.
