President Hakainde Hichilema says he expects to win significantly more votes from Muchinga Province in next month’s general election than he did in 2021, telling residents across four districts that they now know him personally after four years of development delivery in the region.
Addressing rallies in Lavushimanda, Mpika, Kanchibiya and Shiwang’andu districts, the President said Muchinga gave him and the UPND fewer votes in 2021 because residents had been misled by falsehoods about his personality and his ability to deliver on campaign promises, including free education and an enhanced Constituency Development Fund.
The Muchinga tour marked Hichilema’s seventh provincial campaign stop, with 28 days remaining before the August 13 vote, as the UPND seeks to convert what it describes as improved recognition and development delivery into stronger parliamentary and local government representation in the province.
During the same visit, the President also addressed job creation in Shiwang’andu, saying government is working to expand the district’s employment base through mining sector investment, with a large-scale mine expected to discourage illegal mining and promote safer operations.
