Vice President Mutale Nalumango has challenged Zambian youths to transform the “Green Hustle” into a national movement, calling on young people to move from ideas to tangible production and job creation.
Youth at the Centre of the National Agenda
Speaking at the 2026 Youth Connekt Zambia Summit, held under the theme “Green Hustle: Cultivating Wealth, Creating Jobs” at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka, Vice President Nalumango said young people’s flexibility and capacity for innovation make them central to Zambia’s development agenda. The summit drew hundreds of young entrepreneurs, innovators and youth organisations from across the country.
Nalumango said the success of young people is a national priority, arguing they determine the country’s future and should be placed at the centre of Zambia’s development agenda. She said government remains committed to ensuring youth success.
From Ideas to Production
The Vice President called on youths to shift from simply seeking employment to becoming entrepreneurs, innovators and employers themselves, urging them to treat this year’s theme as a challenge to work harder. She encouraged young people to turn the Green Hustle into a movement built around producing more, processing more, innovating more, exporting more and creating more jobs.
Nalumango said the green growth agenda must generate wealth for the nation and create opportunities beyond those who initiate it, calling on youths to build wealth and jobs not only for themselves but for their families, communities and the many young people still waiting for opportunities to contribute to the country’s development.
