Government has confirmed funeral and burial arrangements for former Vice President Dr. Guy Lindsay Scott, who died on July 15, with President Hakainde Hichilema according him a State Funeral in recognition of his professional and political contribution to the nation.
According to a press statement issued by Secretary to the Cabinet Patrick K. Kangwa, the President has declared a five-day period of National Mourning running from Thursday, July 16 to Monday, July 20, when Scott will be laid to rest at Leopards Hill Memorial Park in Lusaka. The burial will be preceded by a State Funeral Church Service at the Anglican Cathedral of the Holy Cross at 10:00 hours.
Members of the public have been informed that a funeral gathering for the late Vice President will be held at Belvedere Lodge along Leopards Hill Road in Kabulonga, Lusaka, giving Zambians an opportunity to pay their respects ahead of the burial.
During the mourning period, observed daily between 06:00 and 18:00 hours, the public has been advised that flags across the country must fly at half-mast as a mark of national respect.
